Mohammed Abutaleb
Mohammed Abutaleb founded the MEYHM Family Foundation in 2021 along with his wife, Hanan, who serves as the Vice Chairwoman and Treasurer of the foundation, both of whom have strong passions for giving back to the underserved refugee and asylum seeker community. He comes to this role with over 40 years of experience in satellite communications, including the founding of two successful businesses, of which he served as CEO for the entirety of his time at each.
Providing network and professional services to military, government, and non-governmental humanitarian organizations, Mohammed’s work has taken him around the world, deepening his passion, understanding, and commitment to serving individuals who wish to or are forced to resettle. During his time as CEO, Mohammed led countless missions in delivering needed communications services to global humanitarian organizations and disaster relief efforts, giving him firsthand insight into the complex challenges displaced communities face when navigating safety, stability, and access to essential resources.
As President and Chairman of the Board, Mohammed focuses on governance and strategic direction of the organization, along with stewardship of the Foundation’s assets to support charitable goals.

Hanan Elbakry
Vice Chairwoman /Treasurer
Hanan Elbakry is a licensed mental health professional and professor of Psychotherapy at The Chicago School based in Washington, DC. She co-founded the MEYHM Family Foundation with her husband, Mohammed, with a shared desire of serving the refugee and asylum-seeker community in the DMV area.
With over 10 years of experience and a specialized focus on trauma-informed care, Hanan has worked with clients of all backgrounds, ages, and experiences. She has a deep understanding of the complex mental, physical, and emotional challenges that can accompany resettlement and displacement, further strengthening her commitment to starting a foundation that gives back to this community. Her work reflects a clear, sustained dedication to creating pathways for healing, stability, and opportunity for individuals rebuilding their lives.
As Vice Chairwoman of the Board and Treasurer, Hanan is responsible for oversight and reporting of the organization’s financial health, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws.
Program Manager
Maryam Abutaleb
Maryam Abutaleb is a licensed Occupational Therapist with a background in community-based care and acute care, specializing in neurology populations. She joins the Foundation with over six years of experience in clinical/bedside care, which has provided her an extremely diverse patient and client background as well as firsthand knowledge of the complex challenges resettlers face when navigating the healthcare system.
As a program manager, Maryam assists with all aspects of the foundation’s current programming, development of new programming, and expansion and maintenance of community partnerships.

Ehab Abutaleb
Ehab Abutaleb is a sustainability engineer with a background in project management of large scale commercial and government construction programs.
As a committee member, Ehab assists in identifying potential scholarship applicants, participates in interviews, and selection of scholarship applicants.
